I work in "CORPORATE AMERICA" and its been very challenging as a woman, as a minority, as a mother, and as a younger generation. I went out on maternity leave last year, I had to pass a few projects on to a senior guy to work on in my absence. I was not given the projects back upon my return a few months ago due to "a change in corporate direction" which was only senior guys work on the bigger projects. Didn’t feel it was the time to fight back due to this economy. Although, I was allowed to work on them alongside the senior guy, I am no longer able to lead the projects.

Well, the senior guy conveniently leaves me out of meetings on the projects I’m working with him on, to the point where I get tired of reminding him to clue me in on any meetings (he’s not my boss) we both have the same boss though. I’m completely off one project, just because he’s just left me out, and I got tired of chasing him about it. On the other project I’m still holding on by literally trying to keep my head above the water and constantly following up with him on anything… Recently, I overheard him telling our boss he has a meeting coming up on this project and he hasn’t mentioned a word to me again!. He keeps me out of phone calls and when I ask he’ll only give brief updates. I’m so upset and tired of his sneakiness in trying to keep me out.. We have a good friendship ( I think) but I notice he likes to get all the recognition and can be very arrogant at times. I know he’d prefer to leave me out of this project if it were up to him. I’m not going to allow this and want to bring up the upcoming meeting he’s again not notified me about. This is a learning experience for me ( he has about 15years ahead of me) and I’ve explained that to him many many times before!! But, he still seems to just cut me out of important calls on this project and wants to handle it all himself . What should I do? I want to talk to him before I talk to our boss about my frustration. I really want to get the point across, because he’s such a big B.S’er. I’ve also told him I’m not want to lead or take this project back from you ( its our bosses call) but let me continue learning from it and participate in all calls and meetings.. and he chooses to purposely not to. Professional adivce please? how should I further handle this without sounding like a nagging and controlling co-worker?
